Installing OpenIV for GTA V on Epic Games Store

Installing OpenIV for the Epic Games version of Grand Theft Auto V can be a bit tricky, but with the right tools and instructions, you can get it done in no time. In this article, I’m going to show you how to install OpenIV for the Epic Games version of Grand Theft Auto V, and in a separate video, I’ll show you how to install car mods and other modifications.

Downloading OpenIV

To download OpenIV, go to openiv.com. Click the “Download Now” button. Once you have the file downloaded, click to open it and then click “Run.” From there, you’ll be prompted to select a language and accept the terms and conditions. Then, you’ll be given the option to install the OpenIV Manager, which you can install anywhere on your computer. Make sure to check the Run OpenIV after installation box, so that it will automatically open after installation.

Installing Loader & OpenIV.ASI

Next, you’ll need to navigate to the folder where Grand Theft Auto V is installed on your computer. This is typically located in the C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games or C:\Program Files\Epic Games folder, but it could also be located in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games or C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games folder if you’re running a 64-bit version of Windows. Once you’ve located the folder, make note of the location and then paste it into the “Browse” field in OpenIV.

After that, OpenIV will recognize the version of the game that you have installed and will prompt you to back up your original files. This is important because to mod the game, you’ll be editing large files that need to be completely original and untouched to play the game online without getting banned.

OpenIV works around this by creating a “mods” folder and copying some of the original files there, which are then replaced at runtime when you start up the game. This means that you’ll end up with a lot of duplicate files on your computer, but they do not actually duplicate if they’ve been edited.

To configure OpenIV, you will need to follow these steps:

  1. Launch OpenIV and click on the Tools button located in the top-left corner of he window.
  2. Select ASI Manager from the Tools drop-down menu.
  3. In the ASI Manager window, click on the Install button to install the ASI loader as well as OpenIV.ASI. This is necessary for OpenIV to work properly.
  4. Next, click on the Allow edit mode only for archives inside "mods" folder button, click “Yes”, Then “Close”.

Note: This process may change depending on the version of OpenIV you are using. Be sure to check the OpenIV documentation for the most up-to-date instructions.

Turning off OpenIV

To turn off OpenIV, you will need to follow these steps:

  1. Lanch OpenIV and click on the tools button located in the top-left corner of the window.
  2. Click ASI Manager
  3. Click Uninstall next to both ASI Loader and OpenIV.ASI

Conclusion

With OpenIV installed and configured, you are now ready to start installing mods for Grand Theft Auto V on the Epic Games version of the game.
