Palworld save converter questions
Fix missing map discovery or global Palbox progress
LocalData.sav stores map discovery and other client-side progress for one player. The dedicated server does not read this file.
For Steam, open %LocalAppData%\Pal\Saved\SaveGames\<SteamID64>. Copy LocalData.sav from the old co-op world folder into the folder created when that player connected to the dedicated server. Match the world folders by their modification times and keep a backup of both files.
For Xbox or PC Game Pass, use the Palworld WGS LocalData Extractor
to find the matching world or server-client record. The extractor downloads LocalData.sav for standard Steam or local save storage. It does not write the file back into a Game Pass wgs folder.
Can I move an Xbox or PC Game Pass singleplayer or co-op save to Steam?
Yes. Select the complete wgs folder, choose the 00000000000000000000000000000001 host and enter that same ID as the destination. The download contains a standard Steam world folder. Extract it into %LocalAppData%\Pal\Saved\SaveGames\<SteamID64>.
Are my Palworld save files uploaded?
No. JavaScript and WebAssembly read and change the selected files inside your browser. The page doesn’t send the save data to a server.
Which Palworld save folder should I select?
For Steam, select the complete world folder or its parent SaveGames folder. For Xbox or PC Game Pass, select the complete wgs folder. The folder picker finds Level.sav and the player saves inside it.
Do all co-op players need their IDs converted?
No. A standard co-op host save uses 00000000000000000000000000000001. Other player files already use account-derived IDs and are copied into the output unchanged.
Can I convert a dedicated-server save back to co-op?
Yes. Select Dedicated to Co-op, choose the dedicated-server save folder and character, then convert it to the co-op host ID.
Does the converter support PlM, PlZ and Xbox CNK saves?
Yes. It reads PlM and PlZ save containers plus Xbox Game Pass wgs folders containing CNK-wrapped saves.
What does the converter change?
It rewrites the selected character’s player ID in the player save and matching Level.sav references, including character and guild records. Unselected player saves aren’t rewritten.
Palworld save migration problems
- If map exploration is missing, restore that player’s local
LocalData.sav. For Xbox or PC Game Pass sources, use the LocalData extractor . Do not place this file in the dedicated server save folder. - Stop the dedicated server before replacing files. A running server writes its in-memory world back to disk and can overwrite the converted files during shutdown.
- If the server opens character creation, verify that the destination player ID matches the ID printed in the server console and that the converted files were placed in the active world folder.
- If Pals are missing after a failed attempt, restore fresh source files before converting again. Don’t reuse files written by the failed server session.
