If you create content and you would rather keep your Steam Account balance private, then you need a way to hide it. Of course, placing it on another screen can still be shown if something even so much as ‘glitches out’ on the live stream. So, instead of waiting for it to accidentally be broadcast to the internet, you can hide it completely. (Of course, you can still use your wallet balance)
