There are small differences between dch drivers and normal drivers. But if you choose to have one over the other, he has had a switch between them.
Download normal drivers
The first thing to do is to download the standard drivers that aren’t DCH, head to the Nvidia download website and make sure to select your correct hardware, also choose “Standard” under Windows Driver Type
, then choose download.
Once the download is complete, put this on your desktop for easy access later.
Prepare to uninstall existing driver
To uninstall the Nvidia drivers properly, the best thing to use to boot into safe mode and then uninstall them with a tool called display driver and then re-install them later.
Download DDU and extract the zip onto a place like your desktop, so that the .exe is easily accessible.
Now we need to boot into safe mode. There are two ways of doing this:
To boot into safe mode open command prompt as administrator and run the following command:
bcdedit /set {default} safeboot minimal
Press start type in
msconfig
and hit enter it. This opens System Configuration. Head to theboot
tab and make sure to tickSafe boot
as well as aMinimal
right below it. Choose apply and OK.
Uninstall old driver
Once in safe mode, open at ddu. In the options screen, I like the tick Remove C:\NVIDIA driver folders
which isn’t recommended, nut what we’re doing here is a clean reinstall. So this should be fine.
Hit close, then from ---Select device type---
select “GPU”.
From the drop down below, then selected Nvidia.
Before an installing I’d recommend unplugging your Ethernet cable and turning off your WiFi so that it doesn’t automatically download a fresh DCH copy, which is what we’re trying to uninstall. Will disable safe mode, so once again run bcdedit /deletevalue {default} safeboot
, or try msconfig
, boot, then turn safe boot off.
If the above command doesn’t work, try the following: bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot
In DDU, you click clean and restart.
And wait for your system to reboot.
Install Non-DCH driver
Now to install the Non-DCH driver before Windows does. That’s why we unplugged the Internet and disabled it.
All we need to do is run the installer that we downloaded and placed on the desktop earlier.
Once this install is complete, you can reconnect to the Internet and use your computer as normal. If you’d like, you can reboot. If that’s what you prefer.
