Now, before you think this is just a run-of-the-mill ad integration with NordVPN – It’s not. While I offer ad integrations, links, etc., this was not one of them.
I had a particular task in mind when trying to figure out split-tunneling. This isn’t normal ‘split tunneling’ you may find in NordVPN – This is tunneling ONLY specific websites through VPNs, keeping the rest of the traffic as usual.
While the guide shows OpenVPN as the software, I use NordVPN servers. After figuring it all out, I thought it would be a great idea to show the process on YouTube. NordVPN was happy to take me up on the offer, and at the time of writing, since its release on June 3, 2021, it now has 6,969 views as of September 6, 2022. While not a substantial viewer-pulling topic, those who came searching for the video found what they wanted. With 267 likes and 4 dislikes, the ratio is excellent.
Niche topics are hard to sell to advertisers. Creating guides and getting people to sponsor them is difficult. As you can see, these niche topics don’t pull that many views. Those searching for this video may not have a VPN provider already. Seeing such a close integration with NordVPN, and a clearly laid out guide may attract or convert more users. While the viewer count is lower, the conversion rate, directly or indirectly, should be far higher than just a typical ad integration.
